Returning for the sixth year and running for six weeks, Big Screen on the Beach is back at the Roundhouse London in Camden for summer 2017.
With a series of outdoor films from new releases, cult classics and family favourites to choose from, cinema goers can experience a unique screening experience in this specially created holiday inspired urban beach. There’s cocktails available from the beach bars and a selection of street food to keep you watered and fed during the screening too.
When I was invited to attend the opening night screening, I jumped at the chance…One of my favourite films, The Goonies was showing and I had never seen it on the big screen. Let alone in an open air cinema in a beach environment. The clever guys at Big Screen on the Beach have cutting edge LED screens, so you don’t have to worry about bright sunshine ruining the film. It was a sunny day when I was visited and I watched half of the film in my sunglasses.
I wasn’t expecting it to be so big, the sand and deckchairs transformed the space and it definitely didn’t feel like I was in London. I loved sitting in my deckchair with my feet in the sand and a cocktail in my hand. It was lovely and unique experience, and of course the film was brilliant as I knew it would be.
I like event cinema, it’s a great way to experience film and it makes a regular trip to the cinema seem boring in comparison. I really enjoyed it and will be back.
